Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) Warfare Systems is seeking an experienced IT desktop administrator to deliver advanced end-user computing support. You will manage workstation deployments, configurations, OS/app updates, and security tooling within a classified, high‑threat government program.

The role requires TS/SCI clearance eligibility, DoD 8140/CSWF readiness, and strong experience with Windows, Citrix, MECM/SCCM, and STIG-based configurations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressively responsible IT desktop administrator experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows or ThinLinux end-client solutions.
  • Experience with Citrix Zendesktop, appV, and Windows Terminal Services.
  • Patching OS and apps via MECM/SCCM with testing and rollback.
  • Knowledge of SRGs and STIGs security baselines.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve escalated service desk tickets.

Job description

This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems.

HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. Our capabilities in cybersecurity, network architecture, reverse engineering, software and hardware development uniquely enable us to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners.

The selected candidate will contribute to a high‑impact government program focused on enhancing and securing mission‑critical systems and environments. The program is scheduled to launch in early 2026 and due to the classified nature of the mission and the sensitivity of the operational environment, an active TS/SCI security clearance will be required.

Anticipated salary range: $95,000 – $135,000.

What you will do

You will provide advanced desktop support and hands‑on troubleshooting for end‑user computing environments, ensuring users have reliable, secure, and well‑functioning workstations, peripherals, and productivity tools.

  • Resolve escalated service desk tickets.
  • Perform workstation deployments and configurations.
  • Support operating system and application updates.
  • Troubleshoot Windows and Citrix issues; configure and maintain endpoint security tools.
  • Support peripheral devices, network connectivity, and user authentication problems.
  • Participate in hardware lifecycle planning, software packaging, distribution, and documentation of support procedures.
  • Contribute to process improvements, inventory accuracy, and mentor junior technicians.
  • Ensure end‑user computing systems remain stable, secure, and aligned with organizational policies.
What we are looking for

5+ years progressively responsible IT desktop administrator experience.

Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in the following:

  • Deploying and managing Windows or ThinLinux end‑client solutions.
  • Providing support to a variety of EUC platforms and applications such as thick, thin, and zero clients with Citrix Zendesktop, appV, and Windows Terminal Services.
  • Installing, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting Microsoft and third‑party applications.
  • Patching operating systems and applications via MECM/SCCM, including research, testing, installation, troubleshooting, and rollback.
  • Applying and maintaining a standard security configuration based on SRGs and STIGs.

Must meet DoD 8140/CSWF for 451-Intermediate or be willing to obtain the appropriate credential within 6 months.

Active TS/SCI government security clearance required to start
Level Qualifications
  • Systems Administrator 1: High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years relevant experience.
  • Systems Administrator 2: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
  • Systems Administrator 3: 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 5 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Systems Administrator 4: 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
