This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems.

HII works within our nation’s intelligence and cyber operations communities to defend our interests in cyberspace and anticipate emerging threats. Our capabilities in cybersecurity, network architecture, reverse engineering, software and hardware development uniquely enable us to support sensitive missions for the U.S. military and federal agency partners.

Meet HII’s Mission Technologies Division

Our team of more than 7,000 professionals worldwide delivers all‑domain expertise and advanced technologies in service of mission partners across the globe.

Mission Technologies is leading the next evolution of national defense – the data evolution – by accelerating a breadth of national security solutions for government and commercial customers. Our capabilities range from C5ISR, AI and Big Data, cyber operations and synthetic training environments to fleet sustainment, environmental remediation and the largest family of unmanned underwater vehicles in every class.

Summary

HII’s Mission Technologies division is dedicated to delivering cutting‑edge solutions that advance national security and defense objectives. This position is part of our Cyber and Intelligence division, which plays a critical role in supporting Enterprise‑Level Security and Modernization efforts across IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, physical facilities, and personnel operations.

The selected candidate will contribute to a high‑impact government program focused on enhancing and securing mission‑critical systems and environments. This program launched in early 2026 and, due to its classified nature and the sensitivity of the operational environment, an active TS/SCI security clearance will be required.

What You Will Do

You will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for administering, securing, and optimizing both Windows and Linux environments that support critical enterprise and mission workloads. In this role, you apply deep cross‑platform expertise to ensure systems are designed, configured, and maintained for reliability, performance, and compliance with organizational standards.

Key responsibilities include managing and troubleshooting complex issues across Windows Server and Red Hat/other Linux distributions; performing system installations, configurations, patching, and lifecycle maintenance; and ensuring effective integration with networking, storage, virtualization, and security services.

You will develop and maintain automation to streamline routine operations, contribute to configuration baselines, and support system hardening and vulnerability remediation. You may also participate in solution design activities such as documenting system architectures, evaluating platform improvements, and supporting deployments of new capabilities.

Additionally, you will provide guidance to junior administrators, conduct system testing, validate operational readiness, and ensure both Windows and Linux systems remain stable, secure, and aligned with enterprise and mission requirements.

What We Are Looking For
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible hands‑on systems administration of enterprise server operating systems (Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)) and server applications (e.g., Active Directory, Exchange, File Services, and SQL server).
  • 5+ years of experience administering a complete Microsoft AD domain and forest functional level, to include domain controllers, global catalogs, LDAP/S, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Experience applying and maintaining a standard security configuration based on SRGs and STIGs.
  • Must meet DoD 8140/CSWF for 451‑Intermediate or be willing to obtain the appropriate credential within 6 months.
  • TS/SCI clearance required with ability to obtain CI Poly.
Preferred Requirements
  • Experience leveraging scripting technologies (e.g., PowerShell, Batch, VBScript) and automated deployment tools and approaches (e.g., Ansible).
  • Operating system formal training or vendor certifications from Microsoft or Red Hat.
  • Formal training or vendor certifications for applications and technologies such as Citrix, Cisco, Splunk, SolarWinds, ServiceNow.
Pay & Experience Levels
  • Systems Administrator 3: $105,000 – $145,000 – 7 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s in related field; 4 years with Master’s; or High School Diploma with 10 years relevant experience.
  • Systems Administrator 4: $120,000 – $160,000 – 10 years relevant experience with Bachelor’s; 8 years with Master’s; or High School Diploma with 14 years relevant experience.

The listed salary range for this role is intended as a good faith estimate based on the role’s location, expectations, and responsibilities. When extending an offer, HII’s Mission Technologies division takes a variety of factors into consideration including, but not limited to, the role’s function and a candidate’s education or training, work experience, and key skills.
