Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. seeks a Lead System Protection Engineer to join our Renewables Substation team.

The SME for development and QA/QC reports to the Renewables Substation Engineering Manager and collaborates with project stakeholders to meet milestones. The role covers system protection and communication design for high voltage substations, relay settings, and modelling, with coordination across disciplines to ensure alignment with standards and client needs on diverse

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
Minimum 10 years of HV substation design experience (System Protection/Relay Settings).
PE license in at least one state (multiple states preferred).
Familiarity with NERC PRC standards and protected equipment in substations.

Responsibilities

Lead system protection tasks and deliverables for HV substations (4kV–230kV).
Perform relay settings calculations and system modelling (Short Circuit, Coordination, Arc Flash).
Coordinate with P&C, SCADA, and other disciplines for design consistency.
Mentor and train junior engineers and review QA/QC outputs.
Support with equipment procurement, testing, and commissioning activities.
