Job summary

Ulteig Engineers, Inc. seeks a Lead System Protection Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of protective relay settings and coordination studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; ABET accreditation preferred.
• PE License required or ability to obtain within 1 year of start date.
• 7–9 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with protection software (ASPEN, CAPE, ETAP, EasyPower) and MS Office.
• Strong knowledge of protection schemes for 12.47 kV to 345 kV; 500 kV/765 kV a plus.
• Experience applying protection practices to transmission, distribution, generation, and renewables.
• Familiar with NERC PRC standards for compliance.
• Master’s degree in Engineering is a plus.
• On-site commissioning and relay testing a plus.
• Willing to travel 10–20%.

Responsibilities

• Perform short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis, time-current coordination, and relay settings development.
• Develop test plans, assist commissioning, and analyze protection events.
• Provide technical guidance to other engineers.
• Develop protection schemes for transmission, distribution, generation, and renewables.
