Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a System Protection Engineer to lead protective relay projects and studies within the AISP Department. The role focuses on hydroelectric facilities and substations, with travel across California as needed.

Requirements include a BS in Electrical Engineering (ABET) and PE registration or ability to obtain within 1 year, plus 4+ years of engineering experience. Travel 20–30% and California residency are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Master's degree in Engineering is a plus.
• PE registration or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• 4+ years engineering experience; commissioning a plus.
• Experience producing one-lines, schematics, BOMs, and wiring diagrams.
• On-site commissioning and field support experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete design packages for protective relay replacement projects (one-line diagrams, panel layouts, schematics).
• Lead on-site commissioning activities and on-site or remote troubleshooting for protection projects.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians.
• Apply protection engineering practices to transmission lines, buses, transformers, and generation protection schemes.
• Create relay settings files, calculation templates, test plans, and protection event analyses.
• Develop SCADA point lists, RTU programs, HMIs, and metering overviews.
