Job summary

Ulteig is seeking a Lead System Protection Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of protective relay settings and coordination studies. You will plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required (ABET accredited program or equivalent)
  • PE License required or ability to obtain within 1 year of start date
  • 7–9 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with protection system engineering in 12.47 kV to 345 kV ranges (plus 500 kV/765 kV a plus)
  • Knowledge of system modeling, relay coordination studies, and protective relay settings
  • Familiar with NERC PRC standards for compliance
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering is a plus
  • Travel 10–20% of the year
  • Permanent US work authorization and valid driver's license are required

Responsibilities

  • Perform short-circuit and symmetrical component analysis, time-current coordination, and relay settings development
  • Develop test plans and provide commissioning assistance
  • Conduct protection system event analysis and troubleshooting
  • Prepare NERC PRC compliance reports
  • Provide technical guidance to other engineers
  • Review and produce design drawings including one-line diagrams and schematics
