Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer to join our Grid Services team. You will lead system protection engineering—including relay settings, protection philosophies, and power system studies, with a secondary role in supporting substation protection & control design for high‑voltage transmission and substation projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 7+ years of experience in system protection engineering for transmission/substation projects.
• Experience with relay settings and protection studies.

Responsibilities

• Perform system protection studies: short‑circuit, coordination, and time‑current curves.
• Configure and troubleshoot microprocessor relays (SEL AcSELerator, EnerVista, etc).
• Manage relay records and documentation in Powerbase or similar databases.
• Review P&C design documents: AC/DC one‑lines, schematics, wiring and panel layouts.
• Support commissioning and field energization, including test plans and RFIs.
