Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking a Senior System Protection Engineer (Engineer III) to work with a diverse team on utility, generation, and municipal projects across the country.

You will perform fault analysis, develop relay settings, and coordinate protection schemes while leading technical reviews and coordinating with clients and other departments. Travel is required; the role offers a competitive salary range and opportunities to advance within the Power Sector at TRC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in relay settings.
• Demonstrated knowledge of typical transmission, substation and distribution protection applications.
• Experience with ASPEN and Accelerator Quickset software required. Experience with ETAP, SKM, CYME, CAPE and other manufacturer relay software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Power systems analysis, fault current analysis, protection coordination, protective relay settings and documentation development for various equipment and applications.
• Evaluate equipment specifications and applications based on customer and industry standards.
• Develop protection standards and templates for customer use.
• Develop custom logic and control schemes.
• Provide oversight of critical electrical infrastructure.
• Prepare/review project scopes and concepts.
• Lead engineering on assigned projects.
• Promote efficient flow of information and maintain records.
• Plan, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities.
• Represent the company on technical matters.
• Assist field personnel during testing and commissioning; travel as required.
