Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design and maintain Linux server architectures on customer sites. You will ensure security, perform configurations, and lead less experienced engineers while staying current with OS and software advances.

The role requires TS/SCI clearance, 5+ years in related work, and hands-on experience with virtualization, automation tools, and scripting. On-site work at Fort Bragg, NC is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• 4–8 years' experience as a Linux systems administrator.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and certifications.
• Security+ certification (DoD 8140)
• Experience with VMware ESXi/vCenter and virtualized systems.
• Experience with automation/configuration platforms such as Slurpit, Nautobot, AWX, Netpicker, GitLab.
• Experience with NetApp ONTAP administration (SnapMirror, CIFS/NFS, volumes, SVMs).
• Database experience with SQL/Postgres/Redis.
• Coding or scripting experience (bash, Python).
• Excellent communication and briefing skills; leadership to engineers.

Responsibilities

• Designs server and application architectures; maintains server hardware and software.
• Maintains system security; monitors usage and logs; mitigates threats.
• Maintains baseline configurations and modifies settings.
• Institutes troubleshooting and incident response procedures.
• Provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers.
• Keeps current with OS/software developments and applications.
• Recommends future direction or projects to management.
• Provides expertise in development or modification of software to enhance OS.
