Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer in Chantilly, VA to design and maintain complex Linux infrastructure for mission systems. The role focuses on architecture, security hardening, and hybrid-cloud deployments in a customer environment.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of related experience, a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance, and hands-on expertise with Red Hat Linux, VMware, and system security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
• 8+ years of related experience
• Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux; experience with NFS, AD/LDAP integration, Web Servers, certificates, LVM, VMware, Linux security hardening, Red Hat Satellite Server, Cloud/Hybrid-Cloud deployments, configuring storage over Fiber Channel
• TS/SCI with Polygraph
• Works independently under limited supervision, DoD IAT II Level certification
• Preferred: Ansible, kickstart deployments, Big Data, containerization, Terraform, Splunk, AWS/Azure, and/or HPE storage solutions

Responsibilities

• Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems
• Coordinates system development including design, modeling, security, integration, and testing
• Contributes to major engineering programs and projects
• Develops solutions to highly complex engineering problems
• Oversees complex infrastructure including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining OS, apps, and system tools
• Performs continual maintenance and provides solutions for security, backup, and redundancy
• Prepares and maintains documentation for engineering processes and procedures
