Job summary

BCT LLC is seeking a System Administrator III to support a large-scale Linux system. The ideal candidate will hold an active TS/SCI with POLY and manage installation, operations, monitoring, and performance improvements across compute, network, memory, and storage components.

Responsibilities include Tier 1/2 support, system configuration, user assistance, capacity planning, and security hardening in a SOA environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with Linux system administration including install/configure of COTS/GOTS/FOSS software in a large-scale Linux cluster
• Experience using Linux CLI for system management and automation
• Experience with configuring and maintaining UNIX/Windows operating systems and network components
• Familiarity with Splunk for monitoring and log analysis
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite for systems management
• Experience with IaC and automation tools (SaltStack, Ansible)
• Experience with VMware ESXi virtualization
• Knowledge of security compliance policies (STE/STN) and best practices
• Experience with Nagios and system monitoring tools
• Experience with Docker containerization

Responsibilities

• Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of IT systems
• Provide Tier 1 Help Desk problem identification, diagnosis and resolution
• Manage daily activities of configuration and operation of IT systems
• Provide assistance to users in accessing and using IT systems
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis and resolution
• Support day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices
• Escalate and communicate status to agency management and internal customers
• Optimize system operations and perform capacity analysis and planning
• Provide in-depth troubleshooting of IT systems
• Provide detailed analysis and feedback to management for escalated tickets
• Support dispatch system and hardware problems and participate in resolution
• Configure and manage UNIX and Windows operating systems and OS software
• Support design of systems, mission architecture and hardware
• Understand system administration interdependencies as part of SOA
• Analyze and resolve complex problems with server hardware and software integration
