Job summary

RTX is seeking a Sustainment Automation Systems Engineer to sustain, develop, and implement automation solutions in manufacturing. You will work on robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems, integrating them with Ignition and other business systems.

You will lead troubleshooting, support production prove-in of new equipment, and contribute to the manufacturing technology strategy, with travel up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain Interim Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
• Experience with integrating control systems (actuators, sensors, controls, robotics, and vision systems).
• Experience with PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell preferred).
• Experience programming robots (Fanuc preferred).
• Successful managing and executing medium to complex automation projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide troubleshooting and debug support for 30+ pieces of custom robotic systems around the factory.
• Provide technical leadership through issue resolution.
• Integrate software and hardware to create or upgrade automation solutions.
• Technical liaison between factory, facilities, and leadership for TPM, spares management, and production sustainment.
• Support production prove-in of new automation equipment.
• Provide troubleshooting and debug support for production systems.
• Contribute to the overall manufacturing technology strategy for the business.
• Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
