Job summary

SAM is seeking an experienced Surveying and Mapping crew chief to supervise field operations across boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys. You will plan data acquisition, read drawings, and ensure data quality while coordinating with project managers and engineers.

This role requires outdoor work, travel, and maintaining field equipment. You will use robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, 3D laser scanners, and Trimble tools to collect accurate data and generate daily reports.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience; prior crew chief experience preferred.
• Competent operating robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, data radios/modems, terrestrial 3D laser scanners, automatic and digital levels, tablet PCs
• Experience with Trimble equipment preferred
• Strong computer, technical, and mathematical skills
• Able to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather conditions and environments

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for daily field operations (boundary, topographic, construction layout).
• Determine most efficient plan of action for data acquisition for field surveys.
• Read and interpret construction drawings/plans and understand project specifications and tolerances.
• Communicate daily with project managers, engineers, and technicians about schedule and progress.
• Travel to project locations and maintain equipment and daily reports.
