Job summary

SAM, a nationwide leader in geospatial and construction-phase solutions, seeks a seasoned land surveying crew chief to supervise field crews and ensure accurate data collection across projects.

You will plan data acquisition, read drawings, and coordinate with project managers, engineers and technicians. This role requires travel, physical work, and adherence to safety standards, with opportunities for growth within SAM's expansive network.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience; crew chief preferred.
• Proficient with total stations, GNSS receivers, data collectors, and tablet PCs.
• Experience with Trimble equipment preferred.
• Strong computer and technical skills.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for daily field operations and data gathering.
• Determine efficient data acquisition plans for field surveys.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications.
• Communicate with project managers, engineers and technicians on schedules and progress.
• Interact professionally with clients and landowners; ensure safety procedures are followed.
• Document field notes, sketches and communications; prepare daily reports and time sheets.
• Maintain survey equipment and vehicles; perform other duties as assigned.
