Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) in Knoxville, TN seeks an experienced survey crew chief to oversee daily field operations for boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys. You will determine optimal data acquisition plans and ensure accurate field notes and reporting.

Candidate must have 5+ years of surveying experience, a valid driver’s license, and comfort with outdoor work and travel. Proficiency with Trimble gear and GNSS is preferred, with strong communication and teamwork skills

Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience; prior crew chief experience preferred.
• Valid, current driver’s license required.
• Ability to operate surveying instruments and interpret plans.
• Willingness to travel and stay out of town as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for daily field operations.
• Determine efficient data acquisition plans for field surveys.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and project specs.
• Communicate progress with project managers and engineers.
• Maintain equipment and prepare daily reports and notes.
