Job summary

Michigan Medicine supports the surgical team by preparing sterile equipment and passing instruments during operations. You will assist with instrument turnover, inventory, sterilization, and transferring equipment to CSPD/Decontamination, while ensuring patient safety and efficiency in the operating room.

This role emphasizes teamwork, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic OR setting, with flexible schedules and adherence to department policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification or satisfactory completion of an equivalent Surgical Technology training program.
• Highly motivated and organized.
• Good interpersonal/team skills.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Surgical Technologist (Senior level)

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team during operative procedures by preparing sterile equipment.
• Pass instruments, sponges and sutures to the operating team.
• Assist with inventory and sterilization of instruments.
• Prepare and select equipment for procedures and transfer patients as needed.
• Turnover and transfer of instruments to CSPD/Decontamination and return equipment to place.
