Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room at the Surgical Technologist III level. They understand surgical procedures, ensure all supplies and equipment are available and in working condition, and assemble sterile instruments for use.

They anticipate the needs of the surgeon and help maintain the sterile field. This role maintains accurate counts of medications, sharps, instruments and sponges, participates in regulatory surveys, and supports performance

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Equivalent Experience: Associate's degree in Surgical Technology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures and ability to problem solve in relation to the procedure being performed.
• Verifies supplies and items on the physician preference cards and accounts for supplies for accurate patient charges.
• Maintains the sterile environments and monitors the sterile field, recognizing breaks in technique.
• Sets up sterile field with instruments in a timely manner and keeps an accurate count of medications, sponges, instruments and sharps.
