Job summary

MyMichigan Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist I for the Operating Room. The role requires knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and instrument management to support surgeons during operations.

Responsibilities include preparing equipment, maintaining the sterile field, and accurately tracking medications and supplies. Certification milestones and BLS are required; on-call duties may apply.

Qualifications

• Certification in surgical technology required or within 6 months of hire.
• BLS Basic Life Support required.
• Experience with sterile technique and instrument accounting.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge of procedures and verifies items on the physician preference card.
• Assembles and maintains sterile instruments and prepares equipment for procedures.
• Maintains the sterile field and monitors technique integrity throughout operations.
• Records medications, sponges, instruments and sharps accurately on the sterile field.
