Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support direct and indirect patient care. The role involves assisting surgeons, preparing sterile fields, and mentoring staff. Certification in Surgical Technology and BLS within 30 days are required, with an Associate's Degree preferred.

This on-site position includes on-call responsibilities and collaboration with RNs and physicians. Applicants join a team focused on efficiency, safety, and patient-centered care in a dynamic operative setting;

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified within 30 days per AHA guidelines.
• Certified Surgical Technology program completion required; associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgeon-specific procedures with timely, accurate setup.
• Ensure instruments, equipment, and sutures are complete and functional.
• Set up sterile field and scrub before patient entry; assist as needed.
• Precept and mentor technologists and RNs for varied cases.
• Assist in case setup, turnover, and post-op dressing application.
• Adapt technique to surgeon preferences and case needs; remain calm under pressure.
• Support intra-op planning and respond to case changes promptly.
• On-call availability outside regular hours including weekends/holidays.
