Job summary

UC San Diego Health’s Jacobs Medical Center is seeking a Senior Surgical Technician for the Main OR. Work involves 12-hour evening shifts (1030–2300) in a 364-bed academic medical center with neurosurgery/spine/ortho/robotic cases, supporting a dynamic, educational environment.

As part of Perioperative Services, you’ll verify equipment, scrub complex cases, and contribute to patient safety. Employment includes benefits from day one and opportunities to grow within a leading teaching hospital.

Qualifications

• Completion of Accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• A minimum of one (1) year of Surgical Technician experience.
• Experience in scrubbing complex Neurosurgery, Spine, Orthopedics, and Robotic cases.
• Proven knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team as a Surgical Technician across several specialty areas within UC San Diego Health.
• Verify specialty equipment and inventory; contact surgeons and vendors about equipment issues.
• Provide continuing education in-service to staff.
