Job summary

UC San Diego Health’s Perioperative Services is seeking an experienced Surgical Technician to join our 12-hour shift team at Jacobs Medical Center. You will be part of San Diego’s premier academic medical center, supporting advanced brain and spine procedures and complex patient care.

Under the guidance of a surgical nurse, you will manage equipment, inventory, and collaboration with surgeons and staff. Must have 3 years of Surgical Tech experience and BART/BLS with plan to obtain BART within 6

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician training program.
• Three (3) years of Surgical Tech experience in an Acute/Perioperative Services/Hospital setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated expertise in one complex surgical specialty or multiple surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

• Under general direction of surgical nurse, performs fairly complex surgical technician duties utilizing specialized knowledge.
• Duties include verification of specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment, contacting supply companies and their vendors about malfunctioning or broken equipment.
• Providing continuing education in-service to staff.
