Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the Perioperative Services team at Jacobs Medical Center. This role supports advanced brain and spine surgeries in a 364-bed setting, with responsibilities including equipment verification and education for staff.

The position requires completion of an Accredited Surgical Technologist program and at least 1 year of experience, with preferred CST certification. The schedule features 12-hour evening shifts at UC San Diego Health.

Qualifications

• Completion of Accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months.
• A minimum of one year of Surgical Technician experience.
• Experience in scrubbing complex Neurosurgery, Spine, Orthopedics, and Robotic cases.
• Knowledge of maintaining a therapeutic environment for patients undergoing surgical procedures.
• Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instrumentation used in various surgical procedures.
• Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform surgical technician duties under general direction.
• Verify specialty equipment and inventory, contacting surgeons concerning equipment and vendors about malfunctioning equipment.
• Provide continuing education in-service to staff.
