Job summary

The Christ Hospital is seeking an experienced OR scheduling specialist to coordinate elective and urgent surgeries across operating rooms, Endoscopy, and anesthesia. You will work with physicians and hospital staff to ensure accurate scheduling and resource availability in EPIC and Op-Time systems.

Responsibilities include maintaining schedules by block time, communicating with departments, and confirming patient information for proper coding and reimbursement.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, surgical procedures, diagnosis and anatomy.
• Computer experience required.
• Strong analytical skills with initiative and teamwork.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills with physicians and offices.
• Able to work under pressure in busy environment.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Knowledge of health insurance coverage and requirements.
• Ability to use Internet and third party payer systems for eligibility and verification.

Responsibilities

• Schedules elective and urgent cases via telephone and fax from physicians, offices and hospital staff.
• Schedules surgical cases in multiple suites and Endoscopy suites.
• Schedules within guidelines of each service including usage of resources and equipment.
• Maintain block booking assignments and EPIC scheduling.
• Communicate with departments to resolve equipment conflicts and scheduling issues.
