Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Surety Claims Counsel who can report to any IAT office location and collaborate with the VP, Claims Counsel and the SVP, Chief Legal Officer. The role focuses on reviewing, investigating, resolving, and negotiating performance bond defaults, payment bond claims, and related construction matters.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule (Mon–Wed in office, Thu–Fri optional remote) with consideration for fully remote arrangements for the ideal candidate,

Qualifications

• JD with 7+ years of relevant Surety Claims/Construction Law experience.
• Licensed insurance adjuster or ability to obtain license in assigned regions.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Authorized to work in the United States without VISA sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Interact with claimants, owners, and management to resolve complex claims and ensure cost effective solutions.
• Draft and negotiate documents such as Surety Takeover/Completion Agreements and Exposure Analyses.
• Collaborate with underwriters in assigned regions.
• Review work in progress schedules, costs to complete, and ledgers.
• Supervise outside counsel and consultants’ bills; monitor reserves and litigation actions.
