Job summary

IAT Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Surety Claims Counsel who can report to any IAT office location. This role involves reviewing, investigating, resolving, and negotiating performance bond defaults, payment bond claims, subdivision, and commercial bond claims.

The position supports a hybrid schedule from any IAT Office Monday through Wednesday, with optional remote work on Thursday and Friday. Fully remote arrangements may be considered for the ideal candidate.

Qualifications

• JD with 7+ years of relevant Surety Claims/Construction Law experience.
• Licensed insurance adjuster or ability to obtain license in assigned regions.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with claimants, owners, and staff to resolve complex claims issues.
• Drafts and negotiates documents such as Takeover/Completion Agreements and Exposure Analyses.
• Collaborates with underwriters in assigned regions.
• Reviews work in progress schedules, costs to complete, and ledgers.
• Supervises external counsel and consultants’ bills for approval.
• Recommends reserves and manages litigation and salvage actions.
• Analyzes payment bond claims and makes recommendations on payment.
• Selects and trains staff to achieve objectives.
• Monitors employee performance.
• Other duties as required.
