Job summary

IAT Insurance Group seeks a Senior Surety Claims Counsel who can report to any IAT office location. Hybrid schedule from any IAT Office Monday through Wednesday, with remote option on Thursday and Friday.

Fully remote arrangements may be considered for the ideal candidate. The role involves reviewing, investigating, resolving, and negotiating performance bond defaults, payment bond claims, subdivision, and commercial bond claims, with leadership over a team and coordination with VP and Chief

Qualifications

• JD with 7+ years of relevant Surety Claims and/or Construction Law experience.
• Licensed insurance adjuster or ability to obtain license in assigned regions.
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
• Authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Interact with claimants and owners and management to resolve complex claims.
• Draft and negotiate Surety Takeover/Completion Agreements and related documents.
• Collaborate with underwriters in assigned regions.
• Review work in progress schedules, costs to complete, A/P and A/R ledgers.
• Supervise outside counsel and consultants’ bills for approval.
• Recommend reserves and manage litigation and salvage recovery actions.
• Analyze payment bond claims and provide payment recommendations.
• Select, develop, motivate and train staff; monitor performance.
• Other duties as required.
