Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer in Detroit to ensure supplier quality, delivery, and readiness across product lifecycles. You will interface with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Logistics to drive improvements and lead APQP/PPAP activities for launches and changes.

The role emphasizes risk mitigation, cross-functional collaboration, and strict adherence to automotive quality systems with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related technical discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience, or 8 years of equivalent.
• Knowledge of automotive quality systems and AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans).
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specs, and GD&T.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication.
• MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) proficiency.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internally.

Responsibilities

• Monitor supplier performance and drive quality improvements.
• Lead APQP, PPAP, and launch readiness activities for new products.
• Audit PPAP docs and verify process control plans and PFMEA/DFMEA.
• Conduct supplier quality system/process/product audits (IATF16949, ISO9001).
• Lead 8D/3C/5 Why problem solving and CAPA activities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for risk mitigation and containment.
• Support capacity and Run-at-Rate assessments with suppliers.
