Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer in Detroit to ensure supplier quality, delivery, capacity, and technical adherence throughout the product lifecycle. You will act as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal teams, leading APQP activities, PPAP reviews, supplier audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience (5+ years in supplier quality or 8 years in related areas),

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related technical discipline; 5+ years in supplier quality or 8 years in related field.
• Knowledge of automotive quality systems and AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans).
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internally to supplier locations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous quality, delivery, and capacity improvements.
• Develop and implement supplier improvement plans for quality concerns and gaps.
• Track supplier performance using KPIs like DPPM, launch quality, on-time delivery, and capacity readiness.
• Collaborate with suppliers to meet short- and long-term quality objectives.
• Lead supplier improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
• Facilitate APQP activities for new product launches and changes.
• Ensure PPAP submissions and documentation align with requirements.
• Conduct supplier audits per IATF 16949, ISO 9001, VDA 6.3, and AIAG Core Tools.
