Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to evaluate suppliers for capability and quality-system maturity, monitor performance, and lead containment and corrective actions. You will drive reductions in nonconformances and support audits and program reviews across defense-related aerospace hardware.

The role covers development-to-production transitions, collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams, and frequent travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years in a manufacturing environment, including at least 4 years in a Supplier Quality Engineering role.
• Experience in aerospace production quality assurance/engineering.
• Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and test processes.
• Experience reviewing drawings, specs, and supplier quality records.
• Proven leadership in corrective actions and containment.
• Ability to assess risks and communicate with suppliers and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate current and prospective suppliers for technical capability, quality-system maturity, capacity, and stability.
• Monitor supplier quality performance and identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Lead supplier containment, root-cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions, and recovery planning.
• Drive reductions in supplier nonconformances, defects, escapes, and repeats.
• Conduct supplier assessments, audits, and pre-shipment reviews.
• Evaluate supplier manufacturing/inspection/test processes for compliance.
• Support supplier and program reviews to align with production requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and program quality to resolve issues.
• Communicate performance, risks, and recovery plans to stakeholders.
• Support hardware transition from development to production and ensure production readiness.
• Promote safety, quality, accountability, continuous improvement, and inclusion.
