Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking an experienced Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to manage supplier quality strategies for electrical/CCA commodities. The role ensures supplier regulatory compliance and leads continuous improvements to maintain high-quality supplier performance.

You will lead audits, supplier engagements, CAPAs, and data-driven improvements while coordinating with multiple stakeholders across the program and manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field; 5+ years in defense electronics manufacturing preferred.
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements.
• ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred.
• Proficient with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics.
• Proficient in APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan tools.
• Ability to read blueprints and understand military specifications.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills.
• Travel 10%-25%.

Responsibilities

• Conduct process/product audits and capacity assessments; ensure supplier compliance.
• Evaluate and disposition non-conforming materials; lead root-cause corrective actions.
• Initiate and manage Supplier Corrective Action Plans; ensure closure evidence.
• Monitor and improve supplier performance via data analysis and CI initiatives.
• Provide technical support for Assembly/Test/Inspection; define sampling plans and inspection criteria.
• Represent the company professionally in supplier/customer engagements.
• Drive supplier CI and lead cross-functional teams.
• Analyze data to identify and mitigate supplier quality risks.
• Understand procurement principles in defense and commercial environments.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer with a focus on Electrical and CCA commodities to join our team. You will be accountable for executing and delivering Supplier Quality strategies within the relevant program, line of business, or manufacturing environment. This role involves ensuring supplier compliance to regulatory requirements and leading continuous process improvements to maintain high-quality performance from suppliers.

Job Responsibilities

• Act as the Project Manager for resolving supplier caused issues and serve as the internal liaison to DRS stakeholders on supplier caused issues.
• Lead and perform on-site supplier engagements, including performance reviews, surveillances, and QMS audits. Occasional Source Inspections may also be necessary.
• Conduct process and product audits, capacity assessments, and ensure supplier compliance with military and company standards.
• Evaluate and disposition non-conforming materials and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and product quality issues with suppliers.
• Initiate and manage Supplier Corrective Action Plans and follow up to ensure objective evidence for closure.
• Monitor, report, improve, and develop supplier performance through robust data analysis and execution of CI initiatives.
• Provide technical support for Assembly/Test/Inspection personnel, specifying sampling plans, and developing inspection methods and criteria within DRS receiving inspection.
• Represent the company with professionalism and credibility in supplier and customer engagements.
• Drive supplier continuous improvement processes and lead cross-functional teams.
• Analyze data to identify and mitigate supplier quality risks to prevent material defect occurrences.
• Understand general procurement principles in defense and commercial environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of experience - preferably in a defense electronics manufacturing environment
• Working knowledge of AS9100 Quality System and compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements
• ASQ certification or Black Belt preferred
• Proficient with ISO Standards, Six Sigma tools, statistics
• Proficient experience with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, and Control Plan tools
• Ability to understand military specifications and to read blueprints
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills
• Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
• Certification in J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620 preferred.
• Familiarity with IPC-7711 preferred
• Lead Auditor Certification preferred
• Travel Requirement - 10%-25%
