Job summary

Shawmut Design and Construction in Boston seeks a Senior Superintendent to lead daily field operations, uphold site safety, drive quality, manage logistics, and partner with the PM to keep the project on schedule.

This role requires 10+ years as a superintendent at a general contractor, excellent communication, and the ability to mentor staff; prior Life Science and Higher Education project experience is preferred for fast-paced, high-visibility work.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience as a Project Superintendent at a general contractor.
• Experience in managing field personnel and all trades on site with great communication skills as well as the training, developing and mentoring of others.
• Project Experience: Life Science and Higher Education.
• Experience with complex and logistically challenging, fast paced and high visibility projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead all daily field operations to ensure proper site safety, construction, progress, quality control and a clean site
• Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and commitments including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, inspections
• Work in partnership with PM to maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects the changes in project status and that meets the cost and time requirements of the project
• Demonstrate and maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, subcontractor relations and any deviation in the direction of the project
• Always promotes positive relationships by dealing expertly and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors while instilling this philosophy in the project team
