Job summary

Bolton & Menk, Inc. is seeking a Senior SUE Technician to join our Emerging Markets & Services team. The role focuses on locating, documenting, and verifying underground utilities to support planning, design, and construction of community infrastructure nationwide.

You will lead field crews, apply geophysical equipment, and coordinate survey activities while collaborating with engineers, utility owners, and contractors. Travel is required, and safety is a priority.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 2+ years in utility locating, SUE, surveying, or related field services.
• Experience operating geophysical locating equipment preferred.
• Experience with vacuum excavation equipment preferred.
• Basic understanding of ASCE 38 standards and utility quality levels.
• Knowledge of underground utility systems (water, sewer, electric, gas, telecom).
• Ability to read maps, utility records, construction plans.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel frequently.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead field crew on complex projects.
• Apply geophysical equipment to designate underground utilities.
• Maintain and upkeep of vehicles, worksites, and equipment.
• Maintain traffic signage and traffic control.
• Travel to facilities and related locations as needed.
• Coordinate and perform survey activities for SUE work.
• Supervise crew activities and train other crew members.
• Represent company with third parties in the field.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
