Job summary

WSP is seeking an Experienced Substation Structural Engineer for our Power Delivery Substation Civil/Structural Group. The role supports multiple locations including Freeport, ME and several U.S. cities, providing design, analysis and documentation for electrical substation structures.

The candidate will perform data analysis, modeling, and reporting to ensure structural soundness and compliance with industry standards, while collaborating with engineers, planners and regulatory teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior structural/civil design experience.
• Engineering Training Certification (EIT).
• Knowledge of structural engineering principles and design/build processes.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; rehabilitation and new design.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and guidance for planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural engineering solutions for substation projects.
• Prepare reports and documentation on materials, installations, and construction specifications.
• Apply advanced modeling techniques and design requirements to ensure safety and functionality for end-users.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to lay out installations, establish reference points, select durable materials, and estimate material/labor costs.
• Assist in developing action plans for risk mitigation and contribute to health and safety plans (HASPs).
