Job summary

WSP is seeking an Experienced Substation Structural Designer for our Power Delivery Civil/Structural Group. Position available in Freeport, ME or other listed locations, with design and drafting responsibilities on projects of moderate scale.

You will generate detailed CADD drawings, specifications, and material lists while ensuring compliance with design standards. Travel may be required and collaboration with engineers is essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-education experience in the discipline with drafting and design support experience.
• Knowledge of drafting and design support principles, practices, processes, methods and techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
• Ability to perform technical computations involving geometry and math concepts and interpret plans/specifications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel occasionally depending on project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical design and CADD support on substation projects.
• Generate accurate design phase deliverables including plans, specs, and material lists.
• Ensure designs meet industry standards, accuracy, and functionality.
• Verify calculations and resolve design discrepancies with engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and coordinate drafting activities.
• Adhere to city codes, state and federal regulations.
