Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Experienced Substation Structural Engineer to join our Power Delivery Substation Civil/Structural Group. The role is based in our office network with positions in Freeport ME, Hallowell ME, New York NY, Syracuse NY, Ann Arbor MI, Minneapolis MN, and New Albany OH.

You will provide technical guidance for planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural solutions for electrical substations, including steel structures, foundations, and supports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant post‑education experience.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Knowledge of structural engineering principles, practices, and design.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
• Ability to coordinate with regulators and understand requirements.
• Knowledge of sustainability concepts and reducing hazardous substances.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance for planning, analysis, design, and delivery of structural solutions for electrical substations.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, planners, and professionals to execute project work.
• Prepare data, reports, sketches, calculations, and 2D/3D illustrations for analyses.
• Mentor and support development of junior team members through guidance and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and client requirements and standards.
• Uphold quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements and reporting.
