Job summary

Amped I LLC is seeking a Senior Protection & Controls Substation Engineer to join our fully remote, full-time team. You will design protection and control systems for substations, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with project managers.

Ideal candidates have a BE in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, EIT, PE preferred, and at least five years of relay protection and control design for HV substations (15–500 kV). We offer competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
• EIT designation required; PE preferred but not required
• Minimum 5 years experience in relay protection and control design for high voltage substations (15-500 kV)

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering projects and coordinate with design engineers and drafters to meet milestones.
• Create/modify design documents and drawings (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, relay panels, wiring diagrams, BOM).
• Design auxiliary AC and DC power systems and develop SCADA interfaces.
• Coordinate system integration of protection, control, automation and monitoring across projects.
• Perform calculations (relay burden, voltage drop, short circuit, battery sizing) as needed.
• Perform relay coordination studies and set relay parameters.
• Communicate with Project Managers, clients, and drafters to ensure alignment.
• Review packages for technical quality and conduct site walk-downs to scope requirements.
