Job summary

Meade is a remote-friendly, full-service design firm seeking a Senior Protection & Control Engineer to lead medium- to high-voltage substation projects (15kV to 500kV). You will deliver code-compliant P&C design packages, coordinate with SCADA, physical, and civil teams, and guide junior engineers.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in utility/industrial substation design, a PE license, and strong experience with protection relays and CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• PE license required.
• 7+ years in substation protection and control design.
• Experience with protection relays and schemes.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support detailed Protection & Control designs for greenfield and brownfield substation projects.
• Develop complete P&C deliverables: one-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOM, cable schedules, control logic, I/O mapping.
• Specify and apply protection relays (SEL, GE, ABB) and their settings.
• Apply IEEE, NESC, and client guidelines.
• Coordinate with SCADA/RTU, communications, physical, and civil teams.
• Perform drawing QA/QC and mentor junior P&C designers and engineers.
• Interface with clients, relay settings engineers, and field teams during design reviews and construction.
• Provide technical support for relay testing, FAT/SAT, and energization.
