Job summary

Amped I LLC is seeking a Substation Protection & Controls Engineer to design protection and control systems for substations in a fully remote role. You will work with a team of engineers, providing guidance to entry-level staff while designing, analyzing, and documenting protection schemes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
• Minimum 2 years of relay protection and control design experience for high voltage substations (12-500 kV).
• Engineer in Training (EIT) designation preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create/modify design documents and drawings (one-lines, three-lines, schematics, relay panels).
• Design auxiliary AC/DC power systems.
• Develop SCADA interfaces for protection and control systems.
• Coordinate with project teams for system integration of protection, control, automation, and monitoring.
• Perform relay coordination studies and set calculations; ensure relay settings.
• Communicate with Project Managers, clients, engineers, designers, and drafters.
• Coordinate and deliver materials to project sites; may perform site walk-downs.
• Assist in creating project cost estimates for substation protection and control upgrades.
