Job summary

Eightelevengroup is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in Substation Protection and Control. This fully remote role focuses on design review and execution for medium to high-voltage substations, supporting utility clients nationwide.

You will lead design packages, coordinate relay technologies, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure top-quality deliverables across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an ABET-accredited program.
• PE license required to practice professionally.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in substation protection & controls design.
• Experience with 15kV–500kV protective schemes and relay coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead and review protection & control system designs for substations (15kV–500kV).
• Create or oversee design packages: diagrams, wiring, schematics, I/O logic, BOMs.
• Review documentation from internal teams or subs.
• Develop relay protection philosophies and select relays (SEL, GE, ABB).
• Coordinate relay settings development and coordination studies.
• Provide technical oversight across multiple projects to ensure on-time delivery.
• Collaborate with project teams and field personnel; mentor junior engineers.
• Support site visits for scoping, verification, and commissioning.
