Job summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Lead Substation Project Engineer to support multiple substations across Boise, ID; Billings, MT; Salt Lake City, UT; and Reno, NV. The role offers on-site, hybrid, or remote work depending on location and business needs.

You will lead technical design, QA/QC, and coordination with project teams, ensuring quality and compliance across all project phases from concept to commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience delivering design deliverables for capital projects in power generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
• Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, design/build, and permitting.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including P&C, SCADA, and telecom.
• Proficient with design codes, safety standards, and QA/QC.

Responsibilities

• Support Area Lead/Department Manager in achieving department goals and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, quality, and deliverables for substation projects.
• Lead QA/QC reviews for technical deliverables prior to client submission.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent substation projects.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and drawings to communicate design intent.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators, and internal teams to address project needs.
