Job summary

WSP is seeking an Experienced Substation Electrical Engineer for our Boise, ID office, with consideration for Reno, NV. You will support the planning, design, and construction of utility substations within the Power & Energy Substation Team.

Responsibilities include design packages, diagrams, calculations, and technical specifications to meet industry standards. The role requires 3–5 years of post‑graduate experience, a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, and strong collaboration with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 3–5 years of relevant post‑education experience in electrical engineering for substation design.
• Exposure to operations and project controls for reporting.
• Familiarity with IEEE, NESC and client standards for substation design.
• Experience with planning, design and construction coordination, including rehab and new design.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, design, and construction of utility transmission and distribution substations.
• Create one-line and three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams and cable schedules.
• Develop GA drawings, substation layouts and equipment arrangements.
• Assist with grounding grid design and lightning protection.
• Collaborate with other engineers and coordinate with clients and vendors.
