Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Substation Project Engineer for our Hailey, ID office to drive design and execution of utility‑scale substations. You will contribute across concept to commissioning, supporting projects with protection & control, SCADA, and grounding, while mentoring junior engineers.

You will collaborate with the Power & Energy Substation Team, manage schedules and budgets, and ensure QA/QC across multiple concurrent efforts, with travel as needed and an on‑site, hybrid, or remote work

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of post‑education substation design experience for utility‑scale projects.
• Experience leading multiple substation projects concurrently.
• Strong knowledge of protection & control, SCADA, and related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Provide high‑level technical guidance for multi‑site substation projects.
• Lead design and review of medium‑ to extra‑high‑voltage substations, including diagrams, schematics, and layouts.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and deliverables; manage client relationships.
• Perform QA/QC reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards.
