Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Protection & Control Engineer to lead technical leadership, project delivery, and team growth within our Power and Energy practice. You will mentor engineers, oversee protection/relay settings, SCADA integration, and ensure quality across complex substation projects.

The role emphasizes developing people, delivering client-ready solutions, and advancing reliable power infrastructure across multiple offices. Travel to domestic sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Professional engineering (PE) license is required or equivalent.
• 15 years of related experience and willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and technical execution of high-voltage substation protection and control projects.
• Serve as technical authority for protective relaying, control systems, SCADA, automation and communications.
• Develop/approve protection and control deliverables: schematics, wiring diagrams, relay settings, panel layouts.
• Lead power system studies, protection coordination, equipment selection, and analyses.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for delivery, commissioning, testing and startup.
