Job summary

LRSolutions, LLC is seeking a traveling field technician to test, troubleshoot and commission HV substation equipment across the Midwest, including up to 765 kV systems. The role is home-based with travel to sites near Chicago, Springfield IL, Madison WI, and Green Bay WI, offering hourly pay and per diem.

You'll perform HV tests, test switchgear, transformers, and control schemes, with opportunities to work on SF6 breakers, GIS, and relay systems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on substation experience (69–345 kV).
• NETA Level II–IV preferred.
• Military power-production training is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% with per diem.
• Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems, up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers, from small units up to large power transformers.
• Run power factor and other HV test sets (Doble M4000 class or similar).
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
