Job summary

Food Management Search, Inc. is seeking a traveling field technician to test and maintain high-voltage substation equipment for utility and industrial customers across the Midwest.

The role is home-based near Chicago or Springfield IL, or Madison or Green Bay WI, with full-time hours, overtime, and per diem when traveling. You will test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems up to 765 kV, inspect transformers and switchgear, and run HV test sets.

Qualifications

• Hands-on substation experience testing equipment up to 765 kV.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% with per diem.
• Valid drivers license required.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems, up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers, from small units up to large power transformers.
• Run power factor and HV test sets and test cable installations.
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
