Job summary

Professional Recruiting Consultants, Inc. is seeking a travel-heavy field role to test and maintain high-voltage substation equipment for utility and industrial customers across the Midwest.

The position is home-based near Chicago or Springfield, IL, or in Madison or Green Bay, WI, with up to 100% travel and per diem. You will test, troubleshoot and commission HV systems up to 765 kV, inspect transformers, switchgear, GIS, and run HV test sets.

Qualifications

• Hands-on substation testing experience (69–345 kV) preferred.
• NETA Level II–IV certification preferred; strong uncertified techs considered.
• Military power-production training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers from small units to large power transformers.
• Run power factor and other HV test sets and test cable installations.
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
