KingRecruitingServices is seeking a traveling field technician to test and maintain high-voltage substation equipment across the Midwest. The role is home-based near Chicago or Springfield IL, Madison or Green Bay WI, with up to 100% travel and per diem.

Responsibilities include testing up to 765 kV systems, GIS, SF6 breakers, transformers, and HV test sets. NETA II–IV preferred; military training is a plus, valid driver's license required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on substation experience (69–345 kV) with relays, breakers, transformers and controls.
• NETA Level II–IV preferred; strong uncertified techs considered.
• Military power-production training is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% with per diem.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsabilités

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems, up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers, from small units up to large power transformers.
• Run power factor and other HV test sets (Doble M4000 class or similar), and test cable installations.
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
