Job summary

Aspire Talent Solutions is seeking a traveling field technician to test and maintain high-voltage substation equipment across the Midwest. The role is home-based with options near Chicago, Springfield IL, or Madison/Green Bay WI, and requires up to 100% travel with per diem.

You will test, troubleshoot, and commission LV through HV systems up to 765 kV, inspect switchgear and transformers, and operate HV test sets. Per diem and full benefits accompany a full-time position.

Qualifications

• Substation experience (69-345 kV) with relays, breakers, transformers.
• NETA Level II–IV preferred; uncertified techs considered.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% with per diem.
• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems, up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers, from small units up to large power transformers.
• Run power factor and other HV test sets (Doble M4000 class or similar), and test cable installations.
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
