Job summary

Group CBS, Inc. is seeking an experienced substation construction technician to execute mechanical and electrical tasks on critical power infrastructure.

You will assemble, troubleshoot, repair, replace and clean components in substations while complying with national, state, and local codes plus company policies. Responsibilities include interpreting manuals and diagrams, installing cables, breakers, relays, transformers, and performing preventative maintenance outages.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical substation construction.
• Military experience preferred but not required.
• Substation or Lineman Apprenticeship is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the execution of mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment used in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams to install electrical apparatus according to manufacturer specifications.
• Perform substation construction tasks: power cable installation, circuit breaker installation, relay panel installation, substation installation, transformer assembly.
• Operate tools and vehicles (bucket/digger trucks, cranes, etc.) and participate in preventative maintenance outages.
• Attend weekly safety meetings and trainings; provide technical advice when needed.
• Willingness to travel overnight on projects and to relocate within 60 miles of the regional office.
