Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Substation Engineering Manager in Omaha to lead technical execution on high-voltage projects and mentor engineers. You will partner with project management to deliver scope, schedule, and budget with safety and quality at the forefront.

Required is a PE license and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience in switchyard/substation design, plus proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power; travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required or recognized in the posting location.
• 8+ years of technical design experience in high voltage switchyard/substation projects up to 500 kV.
• Strong skills in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power are required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work with diverse teams and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develops a partnership with the PM for scope, schedule, budget, and client management.
• Develops and implements a project execution plan for technical aspects.
• Assigns tasks and provides technical guidance to project team members.
• Supports scope, schedule, budget, including proposal development and risk management.
• Coordinates quality checks under HDR QMS to deliver a high-quality product.
• Leads and mentors Project Engineers, EITs, and Designers; can lead multiple projects.
